The Boat
When a buddy tells you how much he likes the boat he fishes out of that's one thing. When a complete stranger approaches you at a public boat ramp and tells you how much HE loves the boat builder and his boats, that makes you take notice.
One of the reasons I chose Stott Craft as the boat to run my guide business out of is when I called Bill Stott to ask him about his boats, he told me he was in the middle of laying a hull and if I wanted to talk to him about his boats I needed to come by his shop and see things for my self. So I did. That's all I needed to do.
Bill has been building boats for 40 years now and when I got there, he took me from bare mold and rolls of fiberglass all the way to finished product and everything in between. There wasn't a question he didn't answer and he took his time to explain everything.
The hull and stringers are all hand laid, the stringers are perma-bonded and foam filled and the transom is proprietary solid core bonded. In easy terms, the boat is ROCK SOLID. Another thing that helped with my decision is the fact that Bill Stott is a local small business owner and I strongly believe in supporting them as much as I can.
So I am proud to run my guide service out of a 22 foot Stott Craft with a Yahama F150 4 stroke outboard. Fish boxes, trolling motor, Garmin electronics and an Icom VHF radio. Plenty of room to fish and scallop with safety and reliability once again being a priority.
*** Special note, the boat has a porta potty, just in case !!!
